Consider this example – let’s say you are writing a new article about mountaineering. You will want one or more lists of mountains. That way, instead of writing ‘as you climb the mountain’, you say ‘as you climb Annapurna I with a height of 8,091 feet or 26,545 meters and found in Nepal’ or ‘as you climb Baltoro Kangri with a height of 7,312 feet or 23,990 meters and found in Gilgit-Baltistan (Pakistan)’ or ‘as you climb Teram Kangri I with a height of 7,462 feet or 24,482 meters and found in Kashmir’ or ‘as you climb Rakaposhi with a height of 7,788 feet or 25,551 meters and found in Pakistan’.

For this example, I used a list of the 117 tallest mountains. So, just by making that one substitution, you have 117 different article versions – more if you use it multiple times like this example. Then, if you have 100 different backpacks to talk about, you have 11,700 different articles. Multiply that by types of rope, boots, gloves … Each list will multiply the number of unique article versions. Naturally, you will need to make changes to the rest of the article as well. Remember, each article must be readable and interesting. So, you will need to take care that every example in your list will fit the grammer that you are using. You may need to edit your list for a certain article or alter the grammer for your list.

Common Lists

First, work on collecting some common lists that you will use repeatedly. For instance, you will want a list of common last names, male first names and female first names. You can easily get those at census.gov.

Other commonly used lists that will get you some great unique articles include dog and cat breeds, camera models, brand names and famous politicians.

Other lists which will be commonly used for you are those which fit your niche. For example, if you are doing articles on bird watching, you will want lists of bird species, places to watch birds, bird books, binoculars and birding websites.

Uncommon Lists

You will occaisionally need some lists of things that you will use only rarely. For instance, with the bird watching niche, you may only use a list of restaraunts in Fresno once. However, that will be a valuable list to have.

Some lists are a piece of cake to find. You should easily find some great lists on wikipedia. Just do a search for ’soccer list’ for instance. You will quickly find lists of teams, champions and players. Wikiquote.org will also give up some interesting material.

Other lists are more difficult to find. Try doing a search on your favorite search engine. But even something as obscure as a search for ‘antenna list’ will give you some good leads. You may need to gather list entries from several different websites.

As a last resort, you may need to type in your own list from a printed resource or buy a list from a retailer. You can find those for sale online as well.

However, once you have that list, it is as good as money in the bank. Use it to make as many different articles with unique content as you like. And re-use it in other articles again and again.
